Dr. Indranil Das is an Environmental Toxicologist and Molecular Biologist whose interdisciplinary work spans Environmental Toxicology, Molecular Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Bioinformatics. He earned his Ph.D. in Life Science and Bioinformatics from Assam University, Silchar, with a dissertation titled “A Study on the Toxicity of Pyrethroid Pesticides in Anuran Amphibian Tadpoles.” His earlier M.Phil. research, which examined the effects of agrochemicals on the survival, growth, and parasite susceptibility of anuran tadpoles, reflects his sustained engagement with amphibian biology and ecotoxicology. Dr. Das holds a B.Sc. (Honours) in Biotechnology with a specialization in Plant Biochemistry and Plant Biotechnology from Karimganj College, Assam, and an M.Sc. in Biotechnology with a focus on Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. He has further expanded his interdisciplinary competency by completing the final semester of a Post Graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics at the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Centre, Assam University. Early in his career, he served as a DBT-Research Trainee and Research Scholar at the Tectona Biotech Resource Centre, Bhubaneswar. He has qualified several premier national-level examinations, including the All India Combined Entrance Examination for Biotechnology (CEEB), 2012, NE-SLET (Life Science), 2014, and GATE (XL), 2018, marking his academic distinction and subject expertise. Dr. Das has published widely in reputed national and international journals, contributing to fields such as Environmental Toxicology, Amphibian Ecology, Ecological Risk Assessment, Molecular Docking, and Computational Toxicology. He has presented his research at more than twenty national and international conferences and has participated in numerous scientific workshops that have enriched his methodological and analytical skill sets. His technical proficiency includes oxidative stress assays, biochemical and genotoxicity studies, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR-based techniques, electrophoresis, DNA methylation analysis, plant tissue culture, microbial methodologies, and in silico molecular docking and toxicological modelling. His research vision emphasizes bridging experimental toxicology with computational approaches to understand pollutant impacts on ecosystems and human health. Dr. Das is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology, School of Health Sciences and Translational Research, Techno India University, Tripura. He teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, supervises student research, and contributes to academic planning and curriculum development. His teaching approach blends conceptual clarity with hands-on laboratory and computational training to prepare students for careers in academia, research, and industry. He has held important leadership roles, including Joint Secretary, Assam University Research Scholars Forum, and SHoDH Co-Convenor, and has helped organize significant academic events such as the Assam University Research Scholars Meet and SCIENTIA – The General Science Festival. With a strong foundation in laboratory and computational sciences, Dr. Das continues to pursue research at the intersection of Toxicology, Bioinformatics, and Environmental Sustainability. His long-term goal is to contribute to ecological conservation and public health through innovative research and collaborative scholarship.
