Dr. Maibam Premeshworii Devi

Dr. Maibam Premeshworii Devi is an Assistant Professor of Bioengineering at Techno India University, Tripura, specializing in lignocellulosic bioprocessing, bioethanol production, and recombinant enzyme engineering for sustainable bioenergy and biorefinery applications. She earned her Ph.D. from the School of Energy Science and Engineering, IIT Guwahati, where her research focused on the valorisation of agricultural residues into biofuels and value-added products.\\r\\nDr. Devi holds an M.Tech. in Biotechnology from IIT Guwahati and a B.Tech. in Biotechnology from Lovely Professional University. Her multidisciplinary training spans industrial microbiology, enzyme technology, and renewable energy systems. Following her doctorate, she served as a Research Associate in the DBT PAN IIT Centre for Bioenergy (Phase II), contributing to the scale-up of recombinant cellulases for biomass hydrolysis.\\r\\nHer research contributions have been published in reputed international journals such as Process Biochemistry, Bioresource Technology, Biomass Conversion and Biorefinery, Industrial Crops and Products, Waste and Biomass Valorisation, and 3 Biotech. She has also authored several book chapters with Springer, CRC Press, and Elsevier on hemicelluloses, pretreatment processes, and enzyme valorisation of waste.\\r\\nDr. Devi has presented her work at national and international conferences including IIT Guwahati’s Research Conclave, CARBO Conferences, the Japan–NER Sustainable Technologies Symposium, and the 4th International Conference on Environmental Science and Applications (Lisbon, Portugal), where she received the Best Paper Award. Her accolades include:\\r\\n• Young Scientist Award by the Association of Carbohydrate Chemists and Technologists of India (ACCTI)\\r\\n• SERB–International Travel Support (ITS) and IITG Student Travel Assistance Fund (STAF) for international research presentation (Lisbon, 2023)\\r\\n• UGC Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Fellowship\\r\\n• NEC Meritorious Scholarship\\r\\n• GATE (Biotechnology) Qualified and multiple first prizes in oral presentations at IIT Roorkee and LPU Tech Fests.\\r\\nHer professional experience spans research, teaching, and mentoring—ranging from molecular biotechnology to process engineering. Before joining TIUT, she worked as a Research Associate at IIT Guwahati, Junior Research Fellow at Manipur University, and Faculty at Hillesland Education, Imphal.\\r\\nDr. Devi’s research aims to advance green bioprocess technologies through the conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into low-carbon fuels and biochemicals, aligning with India’s renewable energy goals. Through her academic and research leadership, she continues to promote sustainable bio innovation, interdisciplinary education, and women’s participation in STEM, reflecting TIUT’s vision of excellence and societal impact.
